PCA: Personal Care Attendants are needed to assist children and adults with their daily self-care activities. Kingston: Urgent Need: 15 yr. old female with CP and MR requires assistance with personal care in her home for weekdays and weekends. Family is seeking experienced non-smoking providers with flexible availability. Marshfield: Urgent Need: high functioning 31 yr. old female with a seizure disorder needs person(s) in her home for Mondays 7:45-11am, Tuesdays 7:45-11am or 1pm (alternating weeks), and Fridays 7:45-3:30. This individual requires little to no assistance with personal care beyond maintaining her safety due to her seizure disorder. Like-age female with a good sense of humor preferred. A back-up provider is also needed for fill-in hours as needed. Pembroke: Extremely Urgent Need: 22 yr. old deaf male with MR and communication deficits requires persons to assist with self-care in his home and in the community and to work with the individual and family to increase his independence/life skills in all settings on weekdays and flexible weekend hours. Ideal candidates will have experience using sign language (experience using a total communication approach preferred) and will have prior or current employment in a day habilitation setting, vocational program or educational setting. Training to meet this young man’s individual needs will be provided. Opportunity for a special rate of pay for especially qualified providers. Urgent Need: 36 yr. old male with significant needs requires someone to provide personal care on Sunday mornings to allow his family a break from care giving. Plymouth: Extremely Urgent Need: (S. Plymouth) 26 yr. old male in a wheelchair with Cerebral Palsy and mild MR is seeking a PCA to assist him with his personal care at home and in the community for flexible hours on weekdays and weekends. Extremely Urgent Need: (Greater Plymouth Area - respite need but requires assistance with personal care) 24 yr. old female in a wheelchair with Cerebral Palsy and mild MR is seeking respite out of her home for one weekend a month. Like-age energetic female providers who enjoy current trends/hot topics in entertainment, music, and fashion preferred. Provider should have experience using proper lifting/transferring techniques for personal care assistance and their home must be wheelchair accessible. Extremely Urgent Need: (Manomet) 12 yr. old male with MR requires persons to assist with his personal care in his home and in the community some weekday afternoons and some flexible weekend hours. Respite: Respite Providers are needed to provide short-term temporary care for persons with developmental disabilities to offer periodic relief for caregiver(s) and assistance during crisis/emergency situations. There is an especially urgent need for individuals/families for short-term planned and emergency respite supports in the respite provider’s home. Respite can also be in the form of recreational companionship to provide opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to access their community. Carver: Extremely Urgent Need: 24 yr. old female in a wheelchair with Cerebral Palsy and mild MR is seeking a like-age energetic female companion to accompany her into the community for social/recreational activities. Someone who enjoys current trends/hot topics in entertainment, music, and fashion preferred. Provider should have experience using proper lifting/transferring techniques for personal care assistance. Spending time with this young lady will truly keep you smiling. Duxbury: Extremely Urgent Need: Assistant needed for a vibrant 20 year old young man with autism who lives at home. Responsibilities include Job coaching, assisting with athletics, community adventures, tutoring, and life skills. This young man needs support to stay on task, be safe, and manage anxiety. His family is actively involved, and needs help to insure that this young man has every opportunity to succeed, use his gifts, contribute, and enjoy life. Kingston: 23 yr. old female with developmental delays is seeking a mature, responsible female recreational companion/mentor for activities in the home and community for flexible hours on weekday/weekend afternoons/evenings. Extremely Urgent Need: 7 yr. old boy with high functioning autism (along with his younger 5 year old brother) requires person(s) to provide afterschool care in his home on Monday thru Friday 3-5:30pm. Persons familiar with ASD preferred. Care is needed from September 2011 through mid-June of 2012. Care would not be needed during school vacation weeks. Marshfield: Extremely Urgent Need: 5 yr.old boy with autism and his 8yr. old brother and 3 yr. old sister require a person(s) to care for them during the school year to accommodate the children’s school schedule. Persons familiar with ABA a plus. Please call for further details/information. Pembroke: 20 yr. old male with Down Syndrome is seeking a male recreational companion for (flexible) afternoon weekday/weekend hours for community outings such as attending the YMCA, going bowling, playing basketball, etc… Plymouth: Urgent Need: (Plymouth)10 year old boy with autism needs care some weekday afternoons/early evenings to allow his mother to work and attend appointments with her daughter. Other hours may be available. Extremely Urgent Need: (S. Plymouth) 23 yr. old male with CP and MR is seeking an outgoing, like-age male recreational companion for outings into the community for social activities such as dining out, attending movies, bowling and other fun activities. Weekend afternoons/evenings preferred. Urgent Need: (Plymouth/Manomet) 21 yr. old female and 20 yr. old female are seeking a responsible/reliable like-age, outgoing mentor/companion to take them into the community for social/recreational opportunities. These fun young ladies enjoy arts and crafts, jewelry making, painting nails, outdoor walks on the waterfront, and etc… Urgent Need: (Plymouth) a 7yr. old boy with high functioning autism and his 4 yr. old brother need someone to provide after school care on Fridays from 2:30-4:30pm and for back-up as needed for the same hours Mon-Thurs and possibly other days/times. In addition to the above needs, the Arc of Greater Plymouth is seeking responsible males and females to provide mentoring and recreational companionship for small groups of young adults throughout the greater Plymouth area with an emphasis to be placed on social/independence skills building in community settings. Like-age energetic individuals preferred. Male providers especially needed. The Arc staff will work with the individuals, their families, and potential providers to make appropriate matches. Home Care Providers -- Would you like to get paid to stay home? Provide a home and support for a person with developmental disabilities and receive a daily stipend plus monthly room and board. The Arc of Greater Plymouth's Supported Living Program is presently seeking homes. Potential participants are carefully matched with provider families. The interest, background, hobbies and needs of both the participant and the family are assesses when selecting a home. the participant (and family/guardian) meets and visits with a potential provider. Both parties must find the placement acceptable. The home caregiver receives a stipend over $1,000 monthly. This income may be tax deductible under IRS Code Section 131. If you have a few hours a week, a month or a year, we would love to hear from you! Here are a few of the ongoing opportunities we have for volunteers and interns:
· Special EventsThroughout the year we offer workshops and host special events and parties for our members. We are always looking for a few volunteers or interns to assist on the days of these events. · Newsletter We need a few volunteers or interns to assist with packaging and mailing our information packed newsletter which is published four times per year. · Recreation and Social Activities We sponsor many recreational and social activities for children, teens, and adults and could use the help of interns or volunteers to help support and run these offerings. Activities include soccer, basketball, baseball, dances, life skills and social skills classes, art classes, etc. · Website and Database Development and Maintenance We could use the help of an intern or volunteer to maintain our website, and assist with new database development and data entry. · Phone Trees Occasionally we have the need to call our members to inform them of important legislative activities.
